Lessons from the Beach
I had an awesome time this last weekend.
I can’t recollect the last time i had such a refreshing weekend where i had to close my work mode and turn on play mode. It’s quite interesting the paradigms of life you tend to see when such things happen.
I got a call Friday night asking if i would like to go to the beach on Saturday…i agreed hesitantly since i wasn’t sure who and who will be on board..am more comfortable with people am used to for a while than complete strangers and acquaintances. Moreover, a senior colleague had been on my case for been a work worm with no social life whatsoever so my Saturday was billed to either go watch movie or find something doing outside of work!
Destination was Elegushi Private Beach, and waoh..i was glad i went because i learnt some valuable lessons from the experience.
Always Seek A Second Opinion…
About two weeks ago, had some discomfort in my right eye and ignored it till last Tuesday when i decided to go see the Doctor.
And i got a shocking news….

Sunshine in the Rain
I got the most unusual form of encouragement from a person i never imagined would be reading my blog. Its a lady i have come to respect over the years that i have known her. And when she informed me that she reads and follows my blog, i was uplifted in my spirit.
Am sure you will be wondering what is uplifting about it. That information came, just in the nick if the moment when i was depressed and tired out, when the rain clouds have gathered and lightning and gusty winds blowing all around.
Much Ado About Sex…….
Its quite interesting, the much interest and passion sex invokes in people and the general reaction to it.
Sex, despite the times we are in now, still seems muted in in this part of our world but atimes veiled in conversation unlike the first world nations where its the norm and without restraint.
Even at that, while our conversations regarding sex may be “veiled” the manner in which its invading our society and sub-concious is highly alarming and the rate at which we get involved in it, either physical in the act itself or mental..is something else. We are in a world saturated by sex…images, sound, smell….name it..it all envelopes us all round. like a thick fog.
Value for Health
Atimes i wonder if we value our lives at all. I wonder why we go to extremes to get what we want at the expense of our lives!
What actually led to this? I was on my way to work today and along the Abeokuta-Lagos expressway at Mangoro bus/stop was an ugly spectacle. Right in the middle of the road, in the thick of the traffic were about 4 people with an invalid (in a wheelchair? ) soliciting for alms!
This won’t be the first time i will be seeing such spectacle, along the Falomo Bridge in Ikoyi, they abound there in about three spots. And they display the diseased parts of the invalid to members of the public all for the sake of eliciting sympathy!(or revulsion!) To add a comic twist to it, they play a monophonic tune mostly a Christmas tune to draw attention!
In as much as i want to sympathize with this group of people, i don’t subscribe to exposing members of the public to unnecessary health risks even though our environment is so porous! And they themselves to high risks of infections.
What i want to submit this morning is that, the necessary authorities need to move to curb this ugly menace, and the civil society should also rise up to stop this unpalatable trend. I want to urge the Lagos State government to implement the Law which forbids such wanton begging/alms solicitation in public and to sensitize diseased, invalid people and the general public about the free health care program been offered by the state.
Its time to create a clean healthy environment for ourselves and for our future.
