It seems the world would never get tired of trying to dismiss God from the realities of life. It amazes me the extent people go to discredit the scriptures and to ascertain that they are mere objects on the face of the earh with no destination and future what so ever. Anway, People are entitled to their opinions, that’s why i an sharing this on my blog today.Lets sit down and read! Continue reading

But why?
It’s with anger and shock that I read the newspaper account of how police shot and killed a young promising man at a checkpoint in Agbor,at the Ika Local Government Area of Delta state. Not only that, that medical personnel refused to attend to him for about 5 hours till he gave up the ghost! What country is this! Continue reading
Its a Season of Change!
I have followed with interest, the recent event that happened between Miss Uzoma Okere and Rear Admiral Harry Arogundade and his boys. And i must say i am really impressed the way the incident has been handled by the media, government, civil groups and everybody. Kudos!
In as much as people are tooting that its because of the daughter of who she is, ( She is the daughter of the Sergeant at Arms in the national Assembly) that she is receiving attention, i beg to disagree. She is capable enough to create a storm in a tea cup! I believe she will receive justice and this silly anomaly of men in uniform will be curtailed to the barest minimum. Just read, that the Rear Admiral and his goons have been summoned to Abuja by the Defence Headquarters over the incident. I believe he won’t go unpunished.
Governor Adams Oshiomole was yesterday sworn into office as the Governor of Edo State after a year plus of Legal tussle to claim his mandate. Its an hard earned victory for him and the people of Edo State. And a final signal to PDP that the era of installation has been done with. People are now waking up to the consciousness of what the law can do. Especially if you are on the right.
Its a new season indeed for our political parties and our consciousness as well. A change in our perception of do or die politics to every one is a winner politics.
Also, i must commend the Lagos State government for banning the use of sirens in Lagos. I must say its a welcome development. Its high time the wailers on our streets be sent packing! And for sanity to return to our roads.
Indeed yes we can!
What’s Wrong Been a Virgin?
I had an interesting discussion with a neighbor friend yesterday, and it bordered on sex and women. He has this believe that every lady wants a man who will be having sex with her on a regular basis and that no lady can remain a virgin till marriage.
It’s quite a weird thinking, skewered i must say. Of course i told him his argument was baseless and lacks merit but he believes he is right. That tells me something about the mindset some people actually carry around when it comes to sex and relationship. Some believe they can’t be in a relationship and not have active sex with their partner. While others differ on it. Some don’t even need to be in a relationship before they have sex with anybody they fancy just like that my friend. Continue reading
What Does the Obama Victory Translate to for Africans?
Barack Obama is now the President – Elect of the United States. As I said in my earlier postings, it’s a victory for the peoples of the world and not the United States alone. But, there is a pertinent issue that comes to the fore with this victory. And a particular question leapt into my mind while thinking of it. And this is the question; what does the victory translate to for the African Continent?
The President of our nation, Alhaji Umar Yar’Adua congratulated the President Elect and said, “ I look forward to even more bilateral relations between Nigeria and the US and more productive partnership between Africa and the US in the quest for a more stable, secure, just and equitable world”. The President of South Africa, Kgalema Motlanthe said, “African continent would look forward to a fruitful relationship with the US as part of the gains of the Obama Presidency. Africa today stands proud of your achievements, can only but look forward to a fruitful working relationship”
So what point am I trying to make,
- · How do the African people understand this?
- · Does it mean more liberal entrance into the US?
- · Does it mean more consideration of African issues on the International scene?
- · More aid? More funds?
- · Does it mean the Kenyan people become Africa Leaders?
- · Does it mean his family automatically qualifies as regular visitors to the White House?
Starting from his family in Kenya, they organized a press conference in their village on Wednesday, am sure to let the world know he is their blood. But we must not forget that they are his Step Sisters and Brothers and his Grandma. Do they have a robust relationship together? Have they ever attempted to reach out to him or him to them?
Will human trafficking stop with a black man in the white house? Will the US borders be more open to foreigners’ pouring in like water torrents? Especially blacks? Even, if possible, does that not translate to racism of some sort?
Kenya declared a public holiday for Obama; does that mean every year public holiday will be declared? Kenya is just recovering from a terrible nightmare of political upheaval, so does it mean a saner society? Or does it make them, the number one country in Africa?
The questions will keep pouring out and the answers………………
But the truth is, we should expect the best actually from the US for it’s a new era in world history. But we need to address ourselves and define what we want as a continent. Moreorless charting a new course for ourselves forgetting the past experience we have had and looking forward to a glorious future for the African Continent.
WE SHALL BE GIANTS!!
Its know longer news that Barack Obama won the US Presidential Elections on Tuesday, 4th of November. It was a victory unprecedented in the history of the world. What makes it so? Is it because he is black? or What? The answer is simply this;
Its a new dawn in our history, the change in the hearts and minds of people all over the world, the freedom to be and do anything we desire, backed up by hope to dream and the determination to
go all the way to achieve our dreams and desires has been rekindled with this victory.
This victory of Barack Obama at the election is not for the Democratic Party alone nor for the United States of America. Its a victory for the “Peoples” of the whole world, Blacks, Asians, Latinos, Arabs etc. People with a dream, with a vision, a desire to be who they trully want to be. The renowned hip hop artist, Puff Daddy while been interview by CNN when the results where announced said “…. i can now tell my son to be the President of the United States.” Its not a dream far away, its the realisation of its possibility with the emergence of Barack Obama, an African – American of first generation, a Kenyan, as the President – elect of the United States.
It reminds me of the words of the great Sage, the best educationist Nigeria has ever had, the Late Dr. Tai Solarin, he said;
We can become whatever we choose to be;
No Kings, no Lords, no knaves can say us nay,
For we believe that man, is a potential Doctor, or Lawyer
or Crook or Dwarf or Giant,
Whichever he sets his mind to be,
We shall be Giants,
And therefore we shall work,
And work,and work, and work,
Even if we must work,
Work our fingers to the bone,
So may it be!
So folks! Yes we can! We can be all we want to be in life! Its all about the Vision, the Courage and the Tenacity to be who we want to be. So i say congratulations to you all, for the dawn of a new era!
Its Time!
Yeah its time! Time to wake up from lethargy and start writing my thoughts down.
Time to take responsibility for my actions and inactions.
Time to take the step of decision that acts as a catalyst to greater things that is to come.
Time to create a change, a lifetime change.
Its all about the courage, the tenacity and the vision.
Its time indeed!
Men in Black!(Blue)
Notorious Men in Black (Blue)!
Quietly they stalk their victims
Like a spider stalking her prey.
Atimes like a roaring fire they charge at their victims,
Rendering them helpless, begging for mercy.
When confronted by their equals,
They run, with their tails between their legs,
And cry out! “We are no match for them!”
Notorious Men in Black (Blue),
Their evil deeds confirmed and camouflaged by their uniforms,
A quick change of hands,
And its gone!
They are the best of the country’s law dis enforcers!
You need to see them dis enforcing the law.
No wonder the state of lawlessness prevalis in our country!
A Skunk has a better reputation than them.
And the Tortoise can’t match them in craftiness!
They are masters of the game! Their game!
But, they can be ferocious as a Bear when they want to,
a Bear robbed of her pubs!
Lets give Kudos to the Men in Black!
All hail the Nigerian Police!
Great Things
I have come to believe a saying we recite in my alma mater, Mayflower School that,
“Great things can be done greatly
With a great purpose,
A great mind,
A great energy,
A great courage,
And a great persistence patience”
lets start to think great!
Principles for a Successful Marriage. Part 2
Concluding part to the principles for a successful Marriage.
The concept of Marriage is sacred, divine and spiritual. It also has some physical attributes as well. But this physical attributes are manifested based upon the observance of certain principles in the spirit realm and which to bear in the physical.
These principles; commitment, obedience to God’s word, Selflessness and understanding of each other, let us examine one after the other:
- Commitment: What do we understand by commitment? What is our definition of the word? Or how does it operate? In my opinion, commitment is when you give yourself to something no matter what happens; a cause, a person, a job or whatever. We can also say its when one has a sense of obligation (a deep one) to / for something no matter the cost.
Looking at it in the context of marriage, the subject matter, two people who are married are in a relationship as in any other relationship. Now for that relationship to be mutually beneficial to both parties they need to give themselves to it totally; that is their body, soul and spirit is totally involved in it. They both need to understand that they are obliged to each other in that relation to move it ahead no m matter what may go wrong. We are actually have a model for commitment in marriage and it is from the scriptures; the relationship between God and Abraham, God and the Israeli nation and Christ and the Church.
Well we can say that the relationship between God and Abraham was that of friendship (Gen 17 & 18, Heb 11:11 -12).The more classic example is between God & the Israelites. God was committed to the relationship between Him and the Israelites and he mandated them as well to do the same. More often than not, when they don’t honour their end of the commitment and he allows misfortunes and all the sorts to come upon them, it’s always a commitment to the relationship that resuscitates it back and keeps it going. You can check Hosea 2:19 -20, Isa 54:5-8 just to mention a few.
The commitment between Christ and the church is the greatest and the best model of all. Eph 5:22-25 says something very interesting which personally to me is my guiding principle of commitment in marriage. The passage says, ‘Husbands should love their wives as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her and wives likewise to love and submit to their husbands as unto the Lord.’
We can view it this way; husbands commit yourself unto your wife as Christ committed himself to the church up to the point of death. Likewise, wives commit yourself to your husbands as you have committed to the Lord as the lover of your soul.
- Selflessness: This is thinking of the other party before thinking of you. It is when you are thoughtful of how what you want to do will affect the other; good or bad.
Looking at our classic model of Christ and the church, it was a selfless giving on the part of Christ that brought about the redemption of the church. The Bible makes us understand that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly. A selfless act you would understand. The Bible makes us understand further that not that we loved God first, but he loved us first on His own volition. A selfless act. Jesus said, I lay down my life willingly and voluntarily and was not forced to lay it down.
It applies for a successful marriage as well. If we are selfless in our acts of love, selfless in our attitudes, selfless in our commitment, our marriages would be a tremendous success. All we need to do each time we want to take a step is to simply pause and ask this question, ‘How will this action affect my spouse?’ Positively or negatively?
- Understanding Each Other – Prov 19:14 says something very interesting. It says, ‘Parents can provide their sons with an inheritance of houses and wealth, but only the Lord can give an understanding wife. (NLT). Very interesting you would agree with me? We can also do it this way, give their daughters inheritance of houses but only the Lord can give an understanding husband. Fantastic! This tells me something, in marriage relationship, husbands and wives need to have an in-depth understanding of each other. This entails knowing each others temperament and personality types which is very crucial to understanding, job nature, family background orientation and a whole lot of things that needs to be known. Adam and Eve were naked in the garden together and they were unashamed. That is, hold no skeleton in each others cupboard/wardrobe. Be open to each other, feelings, emotions, and fears whatever. For in knowing all these, that understanding sets in and takes root which leads to a successful home and marriage. I Pet 3:7 says the husband should dwell with the wife with understanding, if he understands; she is bound to understand in a reciprocal manner as well. Christ himself as well understands our frailties, our weaknesses, so He relates with us on this understanding by providing his enabling grace for us to surmount our difficulties and challenges.
- Obedience to God’s Word – It is on this point that the others lie on. It’s the very foundation of a successful marriage. James 1:25 says that whosoever looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues thereon, he not being a forgetful hearer but the doer of the word. This man shall be blessed in his every deed. It says, and God will bless you for doing it. This is the pillar stone of obedience to God’s word. The scripture is full of so many passages that admonishes obedience to God’s word and the end result thereof. Marriage is an institution established by God with its foundation and sustenance rooted in Him. Looking at the earlier principles of
commitment, selflessness and understanding, they have their underlying roots in scripture, the word of God and it is only adherence to this that can actually bring success to marriage and every other human endeavour. It’s quite interesting to note that the bulk of the responsibility for a successful marriage/home is charged to the man in the scriptures and only a wise man will understand this and move in line with it. Look at Adam, he was given the responsibility and when he failed, he was held accountable. The woman is also charged with the responsibility for the home, the marriage and the man as well. But the underlying intent for both is to obey that charge to be successful.
I will like to end on this note, of this good old song which says, ‘Trust and Obey, for there is no other way, to be happy in Jesus but to trust and obey.’ To change it to “Trust and Obey, for there is no other way to have a successful marriage than to trust and obey the word”.
Concluded.
