It’s being quite a while that I posted anything in this space…been cut up in different things that make my heart wander away from here but I stroll down again to reminisce on things I had written and rue on articles I still want to write on.
I decided to get out of that mental block today and put pen to paper. And coincidentally, its also my birthday and what a fleeting moment!!
As I become a year older today… I take a reflection over my life and this song wells up within me, in the midst of the birthday greetings and shout outs. It was a song I got to know and sang frequently while in my alma Mata Secondary School, Mayflower School Ikenne under the tutelage of the great teacher himself, Late Dr. Tai Solarin.
1 Come, let us anew our journey pursue,
Roll round with the year,
Roll round with the year,
And never stand still till the Master appear.
His adorable will let us gladly fulfill,
And our talents improve,
And our talents improve,
By the patience of hope, and the labor of love.
2 Our life is a dream, our time, as a stream,
Glides swiftly away,
Glides swiftly away,
And the fugitive moment refuses to stay,
The arrow is flown, the moment is gone;
The millennial year
The millennial year
Rushes on to our view, and eternity’s here.
3 O that each in the day of His coming may say,
“I have fought my way through,
I have fought my way through;
I have finished the work thou didst give me to do!”
O that each from his Lord may receive the glad word,
“Well and faithfully done,
Well and faithfully done!
Enter into my joy, and sit down on my throne!”Charles Wesley, M.A
So join me in celebrating this day, in reflection and in gratitude to God, for what he has done in the past and for the journey still ahead.
I must admit, the picture is not absolutely clear. I have had doubts, I have belittled myself, and I have also tried to encourage myself all along on this journey, thanks to my Wife, Adeyemi and Chairman Dee himself, my son Adeoluwa. And to all my dear friends (you know yourself!) and colleagues whose encouragement keeps the fire burning.
My faith in God stands, though atimes, ebbs like the tide…but I have this assurance, “His adorable will”, I will gladly fulfill…and declare at the end of all things, “I have finished the work thou didst give me to do!” to hear this, “Well and faithfully done!”
Thank you.
Happy Birthday brother, congratulations
