According to a 2005 World Tourism Organisation report, 7,518,000 tourist visited South Africa alone, second only to Egypt with 8,244,000 tourists. This tells me that, concerted efforts has gone into making this a revenue and profit center for the South African Community, whether black or white.

The truth is, irrespective of our historical origins, and our colors, we are one people under God with equal access to the resources of the land. We need to have a mindset change and a re-orientation of who we are and what we want to become. Our skin color does not define our status nor intellectual capability

Race was one of the causes of the Second World War with Adolf Hitler believing the Germans belong to the unique Aryan race, superior to any other race.  What makes a race superior? If we avail ourselves the same platform and opportunity and stop thinking inwards but outwards, we will discover that there is a gold mine in every individual irrespective of class, color, race or gender.

The world has long been under the sledge hammer of racism, and one would think racism is entering its twilight but sadly, it’s not. Just like the blazing sun over the Sahara Desert covered briefly by a dark cloud of respite, its burning hot over the nations and stirring up an anger, a discontent over who should be and who should not be.

And racism has different colourings and its not peculiar to black and white population. Surprised? Don’t be.

The moment we create a political elite and an economic elite population with the masses teaming somewhere down in the pyramid, that’s racism at work!

Why would we have people refer to themselves as the hapless masses under the oppression of the Political and Economic Elites? And why would the Elites think of the Masses as fodders on their path to achieve their goals and be done away with once chewed?

What is the foundation of corruption? I daresay its racism! Someone in the teaming hapless mass will aspire for a position with all the investment he has in this world, get the buy in of a “godfather” and get some supporters amongst his teaming masses fan, he contests, wins the election either legitimately or not, he will ensure, that the next 4 years, he embellishes his pockets with enough loot as much as possible. Just to ensure that, per-adventure he does not get a second chance, he will be able to take care of himself and his “constituents” till the next opportunity arises.

Why is this? He wants to escape from the class of the masses and join the class of the Political Elites and Economic Elites who are the movers and shakers in the society. He does not want to be associated with the masses, he has no arrived and will not return to that “shit-hole” he left behind. One wonders the desperation that goes into politics in African countries and the “sit-tight” idiosyncrasy been exhibited by some African rulers. They want by all means to hold on to power till the last drop of their blood. And throughout their reign, what development do they bring to the economy and country? Nothing!!

Zimbabwe President has been sitting their for over 30 years and inflation has so much crippled the economy that Zimbabwe dollars is no longer been spent, but United States dollars!!! Burundi is in the throes of crisis because the President wants to go for a third term! And several more like that across the African continent and you tell me racism is just black against white? Wake up and smell the coffee!

The moment you discriminate against a fellow man, be it your own blood, kinsman, colleague, you are a racist! The moment you believe you are more entitled to something than the other person and that the person does not deserve it, you are a racist! Every man is a race! You have generations unborn that will pass through you! So it not till you belong to a country, and you are treated to ridicule because of where you are from! The definition of racism according to an online search states, “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior”. Synonyms: racial discrimination, racialism, racial prejudice/bigotry, xenophobia, chauvinism, bigotry, bias, intolerance, anti-semitism, aparthied.

Folks, we can go on, but let’s put a pause here. Do we see ourselves as one or as multitudes with different “self-objectives” that we must achieve at all cost?

The ultimate truth is as stated in Zec 14:9 MSG, “God will be king over all the earth, one God and only one. What a Day that will be!” And until that day, we will continue to ravished by racism and her company of similar woeful brethren till we all take concerted steps in the right direction of life.
