As the year 2018 gradually comes to an end and 2019 ready to step in, there are some key things that we need to review in our nation-state and in our personal lives as well. As it is the season of making new year resolutions and commitments, its well benign, if we can put this in our commitment list for 2019 and work assiduously towards it as different individuals.

U.S. takes possession of Alaska
On this day in 1867, the U.S. formally takes possession of Alaska after purchasing the territory from Russia for $7.2 million, or less than two cents an acre. ($0.02 in 1867 is equivalent in purchasing power to $0.33 in 2017, a difference of $0.31 over 150 years) The Alaska purchase comprised 586,412 square miles, about twice the size of Texas, and was championed by William Henry Seward, the enthusiasticly expansionist secretary of state under President Andrew Johnson.

You read right. In case you are wondering, in this season of political jamboree and rigmarole. I can see heated debates going on across the sphere of Nigeria and different strategies and re-strategies going on and taking place. Alignments and re-alignments of different interests, passions and thoughts are gradually building up steam that would snowball into a major confrontation come 2019. Personally, i believe the next election would be a defining point for our nation Nigeria. The question is, how aligned are we to that move of God that is about to take place?

The recent demolition by the Oyo State Government of the building structure housing Fresh FM and Music House of popular Musician, Yinka Ayefele leave much to be desired of the State Government led by Abiola Ajumobi.
It’s simply a display of the despotic and callous nature of our so-called leaders, who feed fat on their maniacal egos and self absorbing alpha status.
Teachers, The Real Heroes of Our Nation Building
Over the course of the weekend, i had cause to visit my alma mata to celebrate 20 years of graduating from Secondary School. And from Thursday to Sunday, several of us, representing others who couldn’t make it gathered at Mayflower School Ikenne Remo to not only celebrate 20 years, but to give back to the school and above all honor our teachers.
