Most times in life, we are battered by storms…some minor some major and with varying consequences.
The degree to which we hold on most matters and the extent to which we understand the storms can help us weather through it even though it can be an harrowing experience.
In the real sense of a storm, it can really be terrifying when winds in excess of 200mph is racing through your neighborhood, tearing it apart and you are scared frozen not knowing what to expect. Well, for those of us in Africa and West Africa, we may not really be able to appreciate the extent of this storm in real life since we are off the grid-lines that produces it hence much more sheltered. But for folks in US and Europe, its not a tale you want to feature in.
In my little research and understanding of this storms, frightful and destructive as they may be, there is always peace and tranquility at the center. A serene atmosphere in the midst of chaos and darkness all around. Its hard to imagine is it not? But that’s the truth based on research for those who know.
What it translates to is this, no matter what it is we may be going through, no matter the storm of life buffeting you all around, let your inner core be peaceful. The Eye of the Storm is by far the calmest part of the storm, with no wind at the center and typically clear skies. And that is a mystery of mother nature you cannot unfound and shows the creativity and ingenuity of God, the Master who is the mastercrafts being.
Our center can only be peaceful when our anchor is firmly in God. When it is certain as the dawning of the day that no matter the storm that rises the eye will be peaceful. The aftermath of the storm may be quite destructive but it shall pass for you to rebuild and be comforted in order to comfort others.
In the eye of the storm is peace, and let it be peace that floods your soul with delight in the Master and be like Job who boldly declared, “Though he slay me, yet will i praise him..” His inner core was at peace about the storm hovering over his life and it sustained him through the period. What God, the Master saw was not the storm , but the peace in the eye of the storm, which his friends could not see. All they could see was the raging storm.
It was not that Job understood it immediately, but he was in sync until God made it clear to him and he aligned with the purpose of God for what he wanted to established.
Will close with this hymn by Priscillia J Owens, “Will Your Anchor Hold” and remember, In the Eye of the Storm, is peace.
1Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift or firm remain?We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Stedfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior’s love. 2It is safely moored, ’twill the storm withstand,
For ’tis well secured by the Savior’s hand;
And the cables passed from His heart to mine,
Can defy the blast, through strength divine. 3It will firmly hold in the straits of fear,
When the breakers have told the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o’erflow. 4It will surely hold in the floods of death,
When the waters cold chill our latest breath;
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the veil.
